Identity Reflection
Through these three various art studios I was able to completely express my identity. Being able to use different mediums most definitely aided in my creativity and uniqueness. In our first studio, I was able to show something that is very important to my life through use of collage. This piece depicted my dogs that are extremely essential to my life and two things that I deeply care for. I used construction paper to create their paws and also inserted a magazine clipping of a Labrador who looked very similar to my dog Cece. This piece allowed me to show part of my identity because it depicted two things that are a major part of my life. Having my students make their own collages is something that I most definitely want to do because I feel as though they can express their creativity and show me who they are through this. I also would love to incorporate the second studio in my classroom. Virtually all children love Disney movies and characters, so I feel that this would be something they would get extremely into. Being able to relate ourselves to a specific Disney character helped show our identity because it allowed us to represent ourselves in more ways than just physical characteristics. Lastly, our final studio I believe is something that my students would also enjoy. Being able to use different mediums most definitely plays into the creativity aspect. Because children love fables and story tales so much, I think that they would enjoy this one as well. I liked this piece because it gave me the opportunity to show my thoughts a specific character. I relate to Rapunzel as well, so putting her head on an innocent animal like a deer I felt represented me in a way. Overall, I believe that these studios most definitely helped me depict my identity and would use all three of them in my classroom.
